Basic information

Short description

Villa "Magnolia" is one of numerous Art Deco villas in Veruda residental area that built for Habsburg Empire Navy officiers and noblilty from 1860 to 1918. Pula town flourished two times in its 3000 yrs history: Ancient Roman Empire (1st .c. BC - 5.c.) and Habsburg Empire (1850-1918). Today you are still able to admire remains from both glorious periods when walking or cycling the shady streets. Pebble & rocky beaches, sport yards, marinas, beach-bars etc. are settled close to pine-tree woods just under 20min walk from the villa. "Magnolia" was built in 1912/1913 for Julius Riedlein, Empire Navy officier, his wife Eugenia Luppis and daughter Ingrid. Ingrid's children are living in Italy today. Villa has preserved its cosy rooms, elegant hall with original Austrian larsh wood stairs, original wooden doors and panelling, twin-stone walls, shady park & fountain. However, villa is adapted for comfortable modern life. Trivia: Villa Magnolia had eminent neighbours. Next door neighbours were the families of Captain Georg von Trapp ("Sounds of Music") and Admiral Nicolas von Horty.

Overview

Villa Magnolia is located in a suburb of Veruda, with easy access from airport by circular road (10 min drive), and within walking distance to the beaches and city town. Veruda is a quiet residential area, where elegant villas from Austrian Empire times mix with contemporary buildings.

Coast is full of little bays, pebbly beaches and shady pine woods, popular with joggers and dog walkers or cyclists. There is a jogging path with sea view and exercise spots along the way, as well as tennis courts, pontoon pool and beach bars and marinas - all on thr walking distance (20 min - 40 min).

Sport lovers will appreciate the nearby stadion, history lovers will love exploring the nearby Forts and marine graveyard from Austro-Hungarian Empire era, and pary goers will love the beach bars, concerts in Pula Amphitheatre and neighbourhood (Outlook and Dimensions are especially popular), and there is plenty for "culture vultures", too.

Getting around

Local bus stops nearby (end of the road) and runs between beaches and city town.

Train station and coach terminal are located near Amphitheatre and there are many taxis, too.

There are boats and ships in the town marina, located near the shipyard, where you can take a day trips to nearby Brioni islands, Lim "fjord", coastal towns or Venice, Italy.

By road you can easily drive to the motorway called Istrian Ypsilon, which forks towards Italy and Slovenia on the west, and towards Dalmatian coast of the east side. Parking in the tow centre is mostly payable and crowded, but your car can be parked on the private parking of the villa.
