Zagreb, Plitvice, Trilj, Dubrovnik, Split, Trogir, Zadar
Day 1 (Wednesday) ZAGREB – Arrival Upon arrival at Zagreb Airport, transfer to hotel. Meet the tour guide, dinner and overnight.
Day 2 (Thursday) ZAGREB – PLITVICE We wake in a city rich with gorgeous greenery; a city famous for its parks and preserved natural environment – the Croatian capital Zagreb. For the most part, Zagreb is a walkable city and our morning expedition will take us through its long history clearly visible in the architecture and landscapes.
The city tour of Zagreb includes the historic Upper Town, where we find St. Mark’s Church with its famous multicoloured mosaic-tiled roof, on the square where both Croatian Parliament and the seat of Government are located. We also pass by the University and visit the typically gothic Cathedral of great architectural value, whose two spires visible from many locations across the city help tourists find their way. With the fountain in front sculpted by the world-famous sculptor Ivan Meštrović, we cannot miss the Croatian National Theatre. It is housed in the old City Hall and home to Zagreb’s drama, opera and ballet productions, with Croatian and world classics put on stage. It's a perfect example of the city’s diversity: not only a cultural and historical landmark but also a favourite hang-out for skateboarders! Throughout our expedition you will experience Zagreb outdoors, its streets and squares, cafés and bars, and see for yourself that it is Europe’s only capital with an Adriatic scent.
In the afternoon we depart for Plitvice Lakes National Park, for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 (Friday) PLITVICE After breakfast we tour the Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia’s many UNESCO World Heritage sites, and immerse ourselves in peace and serenity. Sixteen lakes – true jewels, each at a different level – are joined by a series of cascading waterfalls. Situated in a dense forest, the Plitvice Lakes are a natural phenomenon of a rare and unique beauty. Dinner at local country-style restaurant and overnight in Plitvice.
Day 4 (Saturday) PLITVICE – TRILJ – DUBROVNIK In the morning we depart for Dubrovnik, driving via Trilj and along the valley of the Cetina River, ideal for rafting but also an inspiration for poets and writers. In Dubrovnik, we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 5 (Sunday) DUBROVNIK Day at leisure. Dinner at local Dalmatian-style restaurant and overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 6 (Monday) DUBROVNIK – SPLIT
Morning sightseeing tour of Dubrovnik, included on the UNESCO’s List of World Cultural Heritage. You will visit the Franciscan monastery with Europe’s third oldest pharmacy, the Rector’s Palace and the Cathedral. Afternoon departure for Split, driving along the Adriatic Coast and the Neretva River Delta.
Dinner and overnight in Split.
Day 7 (Tuesday) SPLIT – TROGIR – ZADAR We wake up in Split, “the most beautiful city in the world”, as its citizens proudly proclaim. On the city tour we explore the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace with Peristil, Jupiter's Temple and the Cathedral. We continue our journey through history northwards to Trogir, a pearl-like town in the heart of Dalmatia. We'll experience the story of the Roman Empire within the walls of St. Lawrence's cathedral, a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica constructed in the Romanesque-Gothic style. Moving on to Zadar for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8 (Wednesday) ZADAR – ZAGREB In the morning we tour the sights of Zadar, including the Roman Forum and St. Donatus' Church, the magnificent monument of Romanesque architecture. In the afternoon we depart for Zagreb where we will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 9 (Thursday) ZAGREB – Departure After breakfast, transfer to Zagreb Airport.
