It is again 'that' time of the year, a time to celebrate the most magical and romantic time of the year: Advent!
Join us in our short stay in Zagreb. As the song says, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: Explore the Christmas markets, take a glass of mulled wine, listen to carol singers and see the city glowing in its beautiful lights… You’ll agree it’s the happiest season of all!
Day 1 – Zagreb – Arrival
Welcome to Zagreb! Here, in the capital of Croatia, begins your lovely Advent stay. You will be transferred to the hotel where, after check in, you will be free to start enjoying the magic of the season. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 2 – Zagreb
After breakfast you will have the entire day to spend at leisure, here are a few recommendations: Don’t miss out on the Dolac during the morning, an open-air market where the Zagrebians buy their groceries. Make sure to take a walk to the historical Upper Town where time appears to have stopped, but before you do, pass by Kamenita Vrata. Kamenita Vrata is the alley you must pass through to get to the Upper Town and it is nowadays a Christian devotion place because there the image of Our Lady of Kamenita Vrata, which has miraculously survived the great fire of 1731, can be found. Visit the impressive Cathedral and get acquainted with Zagreb’s Main Square: “Trg Bana Josipa Jelacica”. This square is visited by thousands of people on a daily basis and it is the most popular meeting point in the city. Make sure to stop by the beautiful parks in Zagreb centre: Take a sip of wine, listen to lovely live music and, why not, venture yourself into some ice skating while you’re there! There are so many things going on in Zagreb during Advent that it would be hard for us to point them all out… Just see them for yourself! Overnight in the hotel. Optional: Local guide, price: 150 €.
Day 3 – Zagreb
After breakfast you will have the entire day to spend at leisure, we recommend taking one of our optional tours below. If you want to spend some more time in Zagreb, we have some extra recommendations for you! Visit the Croatian Museum of Naive Art in the Upper Town and learn about this style of painting founded by self-taught artists with no formal art training. If you are in the mood for innovative museums, why not check out the Museum of Broken Relationships? (A museum dedicated to failed love relationships!) The exhibits include personal objects left over from former lovers, accompanied by brief descriptions. It was prized as the most innovative museum in 2011! Visit the Zagreb Eye and drink coffee while enjoying beautiful views of the city. If you feel like seeing some nature, take a tram and head to Maksimir or Jarun, Zagreb’s beautiful parks, where you can spend the day. During the night enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in Fuliranje, visit the European Square or sit down in a bar in Tkalčićeva, probably the most picturesque street in Zagreb! Overnight in the hotel.
